Title: A Hunted Man (The Men of Halfway House #2)
Author: Jaime Reese
Release: April 29, 2014
After surviving ten years in prison, Cameron Pierce is attempting to put the past behind him. He tries to adjust to his newfound freedom with a place at the halfway house and a job. But one lesson he learned in prison keeps him guarded: hope is a dangerous thing.
Hunter Donovan, Assistant State Attorney, is a man of justice who loves a challenge. After a lifetime of putting his career first, a milestone brings him to a harsh realization—he's lonely.
Hunter's world changes when he meets Cam. The wary young man intrigues him and awakens a desire unlike anything he's ever experienced. When Cam's past resurfaces and threatens to rip them apart, their budding relationship is challenged and Cam's hope for a future begins to dim.
These outside forces hunting Cam will stop at nothing to send him back to prison. But they'll have to get past Hunter first.
Jaime Reese is the alter ego of an artist who loves the creative process of writing, just not about herself. Fiction is far more interesting. She has a weakness for broken, misunderstood heroes and feels everyone deserves a chance at love and life. An avid fan of a happy ending, she believes those endings acquired with a little difficulty are more cherished.
Hunter stood in line and watched Cam tend to the few lingering post-lunchtime customers. Cam's smile came a little easier and his stance less guarded.
His body, although still lean, was tighter and a little broader from the yard work at the halfway house. A slight tan colored his skin now, the faint golden tone further accentuating the blue in his eyes and the white of his smile. His hair had a sprinkling of highlights as if the sun had kissed his head. Sunrises gave him hope, but they also seemed to awaken a natural physical beauty that had been hidden for far too long.
"How can I help you? Sir," Cam said when it was finally Hunter's turn at the register.
Hunter leaned over the counter. "You know that drives me nuts."
Cam smiled and grabbed Hunter's tie to pull him closer. "I know." After a quick peck, Cam released him.
Hunter reached over and rubbed Cam's stubble. "Are you letting this grow out?"
Cam shrugged. He looked away and scratched his growing scruff. "It makes me look older."
"Since when do you want to look older?"
Cam shrugged again and fidgeted with the receipts.
Realization finally hit Hunter. He grabbed Cam's chin and forced him to make eye contact. "Are you doing that for me?"
Cam's mouth narrowed and his brows lowered. "There's not much I can do for you. So if growing some hair on my face will make you feel a little less self-conscious, then I'll grow a full fucking beard if I have to."

I could not wait for this book!!! I loved Matt and Julian for what they were trying to accomplish with their vision and dream. So the Halfway House is open for business in book 2 of the series, enter Cameron Pierce. Cam has been paroled after nine years, eight months, two weeks and five days of living hell. Having been accused of involuntary manslaughter for killing his baby sister's boyfriend at the tender age of 17. Cam pulled my heart strings HARD! I just wanted something good to happen for him, enter Hunter Donovon, Assistant State Attorney. Hunter is everything that I imagined good and he could be perfect for Cam. Jaime takes us through twist and plot turns, hits you with a couple of "What the HELL" moments, I coud not put this book down! The authors writing skills have grown from the first to second book, the plot was intriguing with just enough mystery to keep me guessing to the very end. WELL DONE! As much as I loved Cam & Hunter I have to say that Cam's housemate Cole stole the show, with his nonfiltered mouth and his love of "sleepers". ***squee***Jaime has told me that Cole's book is the next in the series. Again.I.Cannot.Wait

A Hunted Man by Jamie Reese
This is the second part of The Men of Half-Way House series, and I have to say, it is getting better and better! While i LOVE Julian, i think i fell in love with Hunter more :)
In this series we get to meet the new resident, Cameron Pierce. Released after 10 years of a life in hell, he has to come to Half Way House to try and start fresh. Our friends Matt and Julian find him some work down at the local Diner with little old Lucy and Bill, the sweetest couple ever. He becomes "The Coffee Guy" and quickly learns the "art" of coffee, called foam art, and takes pride in his work.
While working at the diner, Cam meets regular, Hunter, the Asst. States Attorney. Hunter, being the lawyer that he is, is married to his job and has no time for relationships outside of work. But upon seeing each other it is def lust at first sight. But Cam being Cam, who hasn't been in circulation in 10 years and having to learn to hide any types of emotions, he tries to ignore it.
It is a long, slow torture, the heat between these two..but it is so, so sweet. Hunter is the most patient person i think i have ever read about. I just love their chemistry together, i think the accentuate each other perfectly. Cam who is so unsure of everything and confident Hunter, the rock.
We also get a few new residents that you will meet throughout the book, and i have to say, i love the new quirky addition and I will be impatiently waiting on book 3!!
I give this book 4.5 Foam Hearts!!

“Don’t give up, okay?”
Oh, these two! First of all, I recommend you read the first book of the series, A Better Man so you can understand this one for sure. And because Julian and Matt are worth it.
*Julian is all growly and protective of Matt in this one, he’s so freaking cute when he does it*
But onto Cam and Hunter. They are so different, yet they find a common ground and I really love how their relationship slowly builds, how they flirt and how Cam can make Hunter blush. But what I really loved about this book is that, no matter what life threw at them, especially at Cam – and life threw a LOT – Hunter was there, he didn’t move an inch away from Cam, proving with deeds and his actions how he felt because he knew Cam wasn’t ready to hear it. I swear, a man as patient as Hunter is one you can hardly find, even in fiction!
He believed in Cam and helped him through everything. Oh and Hunter’s dad was probably my fave character. Knew how to embarrass his forty-year-old son, a successful and fierce DA, at that.
They were funny, they were cute and they were hot together.
“You know, it’s not easy finding someone who puts up with my staring and ogling, so you can’t just walk out and leave me.”
Cam chuckled weakly. “I like the way you ogle me. It’s kinda hot.”
“I like it when you manhandle me.”
“If you want, I’ll throw you over my shoulder and pound on my chest too,” Hunter teased.
“Are you ever going to get tired of saving me?”
“You’re my bumblebee.”
