The Story of  ALPHA, CALL, OMEGA & LION ALONG WITH A COUPLE OTHER FAVORITES

It’s been a couple years since Commander John Marion – the US Navy’s most decorated SEAL – hung up his dog tags, choosing his cherished Alpha over war.

Call and Alpha have settled comfortably into their carefree lives nestled in the mountains of South Carolina. No more combat for the Commander and no more ordered killings for the deadliest assassin in the world.

However, nothing stays peaceful forever.

When Alpha’s brother Omega comes to their secluded home with a distressing message from their Order, Alpha has to answer the call.  But what neither of them expect is for the Order to send them a new assassin, one just as deadly as both of them, to seek their counsel and bring them back Persia.

Lion’s commanding presence was not at all what any of them anticipated. Especially Omega. Lion realizes what Omega is to him right away, but the stubborn man fights his every advance. Lion knows he and Omega have to connect if they’re going to be victorious. He was sent to bring back an army but if he can’t get his cherished to yield to him, they are sure to fail.

Call refuses to let Alpha fight a gang of rebel assassins without him. Omega will fight by his brother’s side, no matter what… and Hawk saw them coming for his help before anyone else. Together they’ll fight the toughest opponents they’ve ever faced. As always… these badass warriors are up for the challenge.

The story starts with Call and Alpha at their secluded home in the States, 2 years after meeting each other. Retired from the respective "jobs" but continuing to train with each other to stay at peak performance. Omega, Alphas brother-in-arms, followed Alpha into retirement, but he's restless. Alpha being retired and with hos "cherished", Call, he is no longer Omega's alpha. Loyal to a fault though, Omega continues to follow, but without that leadership, he's a loose cannon.

Omega shows up at their secluded home with information about traitors among the order, and an assassin sent to speak with Alpha to try and get some wisdom, and most importantly, help to try and find these traitors. Alpha is a little hesitant because he doesn't want to put Call in danger, but he has the need and want to protect his home, so he agrees.

They end up traveling to recruit Calls team, the Beastmasters, at the home of Hawk and Pierce. Only, things don't go well when Viper shows up and their plans have to change.

I thought this story was going to be about Call and Alpha, but we get a heavy dose of Lion and Omega. We learn that The Order has been grooming them in an arranged pairing. While Omega feels the pull, he's very reluctant because he doesn't want the life that Alpha is living, he's really not ready to settle down. He feels he still has to find his purpose. So this is where there is a slow burn to the story. Lion has to play this right or he risks scaring off Omega, as he's a flight risk. There's a lot of back and forth between the two.

I love Lions character. I think he's an interesting guy and sort of an anomaly.
That being said, this isn't my favorite story. Normally I get so wrapped up in her stories that I can't put it down. For some reason this one took me several days. While I like the story, it just didn't grip me like all the others.
The real action didn't come until about the last 20% of the story, and the reasoning behind it I found a little lacking and unbelievable. It was a weak excuse for that amount of treachery, but it also goes to show you the greed of men.

So while I loved the characters, Alpha and Lion are amazing (I'm not going to lie, I totally picture Kung Fu Panda while reading this), The story was kind of slow for me. It crammed two relationships into one book and took away from each individual couple and I thought that was a little disappointing, as I felt they each deserved a little more, as they're incredible characters. It's all worth it though to meet Lion :)

I give the book 3.5*
