That Darn Muse Volume I
He's a middle-aged, newly single, gay photographer starting life over. Along comes a freshly out nineteen-year-old, irreverent free spirit who wants to be his apprentice. Mismatched by more than a generation, what could possibly go wrong? Everything! And it's AWESOME!
Dirk's First Time. Every gay boy has his first experience. Usually it's a memorable, exciting personal time of discovery and intimacy between two young people. But two comic book characters? Is it horseplay or Cosplay?
The Boy At The Gym. First impressions can be deceiving. Sometimes that boy in the baggy clothes, talking to himself in the gym isn't as shy as he appears. Sometimes there's a deviant imp lurking beneath that freckled mask of innocence. Beware the Trojan Nerd!
OMG! Hahaha This is basically like a journal or retelling of sorts. It starts of in Doc's eyes but as Dirk's adventures are told, they're told through Dirk's eyes. Let me just say....Dirk.is.awesome!
Well, uninhibited Dirk is.
His first telling of his first gay experience is epic. I mean, Legolas and Nighthawk?? C'mon, that's the thing RPG fantasies are made of!! I like the way Doc takes it all in stride and maybe accidentally becomes voyeuristic.
Dirkisms are pretty classic as well, I'm glad he threw some in there.
I like how he comes off as shy but in no way shape or form is he shy. It was his armor being a teenager stuck in the closet. Dirk and his mom sound like a ton of fun as well. They seem like a fiery red-headed duo.
I can't wait for more adventures, I just wish it was a little longer.
I give this book 4 RPG Fantasy stars!
This book is just what the "Doc" ordered! I haven't read anything by Dan before and if his other books are as funny as this one, I have really been missing out. This book is a short story of Doc and Dirk and how they met. Dirk is so freaking adorable with his mile-a-minute brain. His mother may just be my new mother roll model...lol. I'm also very curious as to what has happened to Dan to put him in this place in his life, I'm thinking it may be somewhat tragic. I can't wait to see what else Dan has in store for us with this series. And holy hell, the ending!!!!
I give this book 4 1/2 giggling stars!!!
I’m a single gay man living in the Midwest. I write because I consider myself to be an old-fashioned storyteller. I’ve been a photographer for half my life, specializing in male romance cover art. My dream is to one day live on the beach with my dog and continue to tell tales that inspire and entertain.
