Like a depressed moth drawn to a wild flame, Chris hoped that flame would brighten his life, not burn him alive.

Chris Sinclair fades into a grey world after losing his mother to cancer. When forced to attend a concert as a last attempt to coax him out of his shell, he discovers that life might not be as bleak as he first thought.

Dante Heron holds the audience between the tips of his fingers and the delicate bow, playing the violin as if every heart is his to command. However, something darker brews behind the fa├žade, and Chris is determined to solve the enigma.

When Chris is offered the job of traveling around Europe with the famous violinist, he surprises himself by accepting. With no idea what awaits him, he's thrown into a world where emotions rule and rules are bent.

They're a perfectly dysfunctional match, but then there's always calm at the heart of the storm.

This is my first Avylinn Winter book and I have to say I'm highly impressed. Her words are like poetry. The way she describes how when Chris first absorbs Dante's music is beautiful and melodic and a little heartbreaking.

Dante is a tough nut to crack. You never know what he's thinking or if he has some sort of mental issue. I thought maybe he had some kind of depression, or he was just being a temperamental artist. I guess it's really a mix of both.

He and Chris relationship, both personal and professional, are like a roller coaster. One minute they're up and the next they're down, but you can't look away. There were some chest squeezing moments and other moments when you exhale.

My heart broke for Chris. Even though he admits being a coward and can't really talk about feelings out of fear, Dante didn't really help him a long either. They're both at fault, but that doesn't mean I still didn't hurt when he returned home.

"Maybe he was slightly crazy, and maybe we were thoroughly crazed, but it felt perfectly right and perfectly sane."

I will say that their reunion was super vived ((like a scene from a romcom film)) and I thought it to be highly romantic and sweet.

I also liked that the ending was more of a HFN than a HEA. They seem to still have so much story to tell and lives to live, seeing as they're both on different paths. I'm also really hoping Chris's new dormmate, Adam, gets a story next. He seems like such a sweet character.

Wow..just wow. It's been awhile since a book really hit me in the heart like this one. Chris is a young guy who's still trying to cope with the death of his mother and is dragged to a concert by his brother Aiden, and his brothers husband Cal. He is instantly moved by the music, and more so by the violinist, Dante. After meeting Dante only briefly that night, Dante's mentor, Lara feels like Chris is the person that is needed to accompany him to Europe as his assistant.

Their relationship is like a freaking roller-coaster. Chris is young and is somewhat confused, and Dante is definitely a little hard to figure out and neither of them know how to communicate to say the least. And because of the lack of communication, Chris leaves the tour early and goes home.

There are some very sweet and touching times in this book and there are a few that will rip your heart out. The last few chapters had me crying happy, sweet tears. That has got to be one of the sweetest, most romantic reunions I've read in a long time.

This is the first book that I have read by Avylinn but I can say it won't be my last. I could feel every emotion written and hear each note that Dante played. I actually had goosebumps a few times. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us for the rest of this series!

Author Bio

Raised in one of the cold corners of the world, Avylinn spends her days either wrapped up in a blanket or basking in the precious sunlight. When she can’t choose herself, she’s holed up in an office working with climate research that has little to do with the worlds and characters she creates in her vivid dreams.

Always the emotional one, she has found her outlet in writing, voicing thoughts, emotions and fears through her characters that feel very much alive to her. And, what began as a hobby soon took more and more time in her life until she realized that she had left her old life behind and entered a new one where her emotions turned into a super power—ready to launch at her poor readers.

She recharges with the help of coffee, cinnamon buns, popcorn and occasionally a healthier alternative.
