From animosity to searing passion in a lunar cycle… but can their bond survive?
Wolf shifter Nathan Kohl’s pack is his whole life. Arrogant and handsome, he avoids commitment to anything or anyone outside of his pack. He works hard, plays hard, and pursues humans as lovers because there’s little to no chance of him forming a permanent bond. However, when Jared Taylor comes into Nathan’s life, every rule is broken.
After a bad experience, Jared vowed to never get involved with another shifter, no matter how much they got under his skin. Despite being physically attracted to Nathan, who’s all kinds of hot, Jared only sees an arrogant, domineering bastard.
A disastrous case of mistaken identity throws Nathan and Jared together until the next full moon. Forced to spend the next twenty-eight days in close proximity, they can no longer ignore the powerful attraction between them. Passion ignites, and their relationship takes a turn neither of them wanted.
But when the full moon comes, everything might change again.
|This book starts off fantastic. With the increasing amount of shifters, they put a law in place and had DNA registration. You had to be approved to become a shifter.|
The law was called Karen's Law, but there was no explanation to the name. I think a little back story on that would be interesting.
So when Nathan accidentally bites a human by mistake, both his and the humans worlds get turned a bit caddywampus
Jared, our human, absolutely loathes shifters. You can tell there's a back story there, and we get a bit of detail on it, but unfortunately not a whole lot.
Nathan, our shifter, isn't completely like all the other shifters. Where most are arrogant, he plays the part at first, assuming that's what most humans like, until he's blown off by Jared. This actually intrigues him a bit, because Jared isn't like the other humans in this sense. Nathan is called out for an emergency and doesn't get to finish his conversation. And doesn't think he'll ever see him again, until a case of mistaken identity happens, and now he needs to cover up the law he's broken by basically kidnapping Jacob to try and convince him not to turn him in and wait for the full moon to see if he even shifts. He knows Jared's dislike for shifters and fears he'll turn him in for a death sentence. He must try to convince him he's not a bad guy while trying to find a pack of rogue shifters that are attacking their delivery vans.
There are 4 betas to the alpha, and each beta has their unit. Nathan's beta is Gareth and they all live in a building with 4 floors in it, each having their own space. They constantly talk about a beta named Alec and how much Alec doesn't like Nathan. I honestly thought with all this talk, he'd play a much larger role or there was some sort of underlying twist to it...but, we never even meet Alec in the entire story. I'm left a little confused as to the purpose of him at All. In the beginning I actually thought Alec was a mole, then, nada.
Another thing that left me wanting was, all this hype about a rogue pack and they're attacking the pack and a neighbouring pack, but when it comes down to finding them and defending their turf, we get absolutely nothing. Just an after story when Nathan comes to from his own attack from being the bait. It just felt very anti-climatic for me, and I'm left feeling a little disappointed.
As for the ending, I was a little stunned at half of the outcome, though I am a little greatful for it as well. I like when things go as unexpected.
I'm giving this story a 3* for originality
