Layton wants success, Adler wants family, how can love make both these things possible?

Layton Foxx works hard for what he has. The condo, the career, the chance to make his mark, is all down to the sacrifices he has made. With tragedy in his past, he doesn’t want or need love. Then he meets Adler Lockhart, the extroverted, sexy winger for the Harrisburg Railers and abruptly he can’t avoid love even if he wanted to.

Adler Lockhart has had everything handed to him his whole life. Cars, villas, cash, college tuition at the finest Ivy League schools. The only things he doesn’t have are parents who care or the love of a good man. Then Layton walks into his privileged life and shows him what real love can be like.

4.5 stars
If you love something set it free, if it comes back it was meant to be. Or in this case if you don’t give up things may just turn out how you want them.

Layton Foxx was hired to help 2 individuals who didn’t want to remain in the closet come out. While in most cases this wouldn’t pose an issue, but when it involves a coach and one of their hockey players, they could deal with some push back from fans.
Adler Lockhart, a winger for the Harrisburg Railers, may come from a well off family but that doesn’t means he’s had it easy. He refers to his parents by their first names if that gives you any indication of how he was brought up.
When Adler meets Layton he’s met with a very professional stand offish man. Even though Layton is insanely attracted to Adler he tries to keep things professional (yea we will see how long that last). Although Adler isn’t “out” he’s willing to do whatever he can to claim Layton as his.
Two individuals who are battling things from their past, can they overcome their pasts to have a future together.

I loved this book. I love the series in general but this book was something else. You can tell right away that something in Layton’s past is holding him back from finding love. But I never would have expected what he had been through. I don’t want to give it away, you need to read the story for yourself. But be forewarned it will piss you off about humanity. I’m definitely looking forward to the rest of this series and I really hope that Adler and Layton make appearances in future stories.

Excerpt

“Guys,” I said calmly, even though the sight of these big men waiting by my car was enough to have me feeling anxious as memories of old times poked at me. Not to mention that Stan had his thick arms crossed over his chest and looked like he wanted to go to war with me. I recognized two of the others with him—Coach Benning looking grim, Arvy grinning at me—and the other man was the guy from the bathroom.

That was Adler, the one the captain, in my interview with him that morning, had chosen to highlight as “not exactly vocally critical nor entirely supportive.”

I was scarlet and I knew it, and Adler smirked at me. Asshole.

He wasn’t the first person to smirk at me, and he wouldn’t be the last. Adler Lockhart was a good-looking man, but then a lot of the players on this damn team were hot and right on to burning. Take Arvy with his goofy smile and his long wavy hair, or Coach Madsen with his intense blue stare and air of authority.

“Little bit talk,” Stan said, his voice loud and booming in the cavernous underground parking.

I glanced from Stan to the others. I wasn’t sure Adler wanted to talk. He was still smirking, but at the same time he looked like he was trying to edge away. The only thing stopping him was that he was pinned between Stan, Arvy, and my car.

I glanced at my watch, like I had to assess if I had the time to stop and talk. Of course I had time. Lots of time. All that was waiting for me at my place was takeout and a night of reading my notes. Oh, and catching up on the hundred or so Facebook messages from my family.

“I can give you five minutes,” I said, to qualify the importance of my time and reinforce my status. It was vital that I didn’t join in with discussions outside the official meetings; I had to stay outside the hockey circle, so that I could maintain a perspective on how things were playing out. Informal meetings didn’t get things done.

Stan pulled aside his shirt and showed me a tattoo. I had to peer closely, because I wasn’t sure what I was looking at, or even why it was being shown to me. It looked like a cartoon character; a Pok√©mon or something.

“Hulk,” Stan said, and looked at me expectantly like I was supposed to understand a word. I don’t speak any Russian, though, so I looked at Coach for help.

“What he’s saying,” Coach Benning said, “is that he likes Ten, a lot, and that Ten and he had tattoos the same day, and that if you end up hanging Ten out to dry, then he will have something to say about it and go all Hulk on your ass.” The coach’s tone was easy, but there was a thread of steel in there.

“You got all that from one word?” I asked, and looked up at Stan, who was still scowling.

Coach only smiled. “He’s a man of few words. English ones, anyway.”

Stan clapped a hand on my shoulder, and jeez, he was one strong man. For a split second, fear skittered through me, but I pushed the fear back down where it belonged. No one here was going to hurt me.

I edged out of Stan’s reach and offered up my most reassuring smile. Stan looked at me, and then he smiled as well.

Seemed like we had an agreement going.

“Are we done talking about cock now?” Adler said loudly, breaking the accepting vibe in the small group. He underscored the words by grabbing suggestively at his groin. “Unless we’re whipping them out.”

“Jesus Christ, Ads,” Arvy snapped, and elbowed him.

Adler grinned. “All I’m saying is some of us have actual sex to go home to and don’t spend all day jawing about it.”

Then he shoved his way past Arvy, who shoved him back before letting him go.

“Asshole,” Arvy muttered, but it wasn’t said with heat. I exchanged glances with him, and he gave that single-shoulder shrug of “What can you do?”

I mentally added Adler to my list of concerns.

Book Tour & Giveaway ~ Prophesy by AE Via

PROPHESY

by A.E. Via The King & Alpha, #1 Publication Date: September 23, 2017 Genres: Adult, M/M, Romance, Paranormal

BUY NOW

SYNOPSIS:

An Enemies to Lovers Shifter, Vampire True Mates story.
Justice Volkov is the youngest Alpha Zenith to ever lead the wolf shifters. Following in his father’s large paw prints was a responsibility he met head on. Now at age thirty-three, he is alpha of the alphas. As a direct descendant of the original Siberian pack, his wolf is bigger and stronger than Justice, himself is sometimes able to control.

“His wolf howled long and hard but Justice kept it inside. It felt like a bass drum beating against his rib cage. The harsh breaths, angry snarls and the determined pacing inside him was overtaking him. All the while… his mate kept calling.”

Justice takes his role of leadership and his legacy very seriously. He has little time for romance, not to mention a true mate. His packs are his priority. With a human government trying to regulate them, an uprising of rogue shifters, and a violent team of scientists trying to experiment on them, Justice has his hands way too full.

Chadwick ‘Wick’ Bentley is not enthusiastic when the captain of his escort tells him he has to leave his comfortable London home and go back to the States. As the Vampire King, he has no choice but to get his species back in line before they cause anymore chaos. At over two-hundred years old, Wick is no one to trifle with, but his smooth, charismatic manner makes him quite unique, despite the negative reputation vampires have. Wick has had nothing but time up to this point. He doesn’t feel the need to make issues pressing. Nothing is urgent in his life. Until he meets Justice. His beloved.
“Natural enemies can’t be mates.” Or so Justice thought. He knows his skepticism and rejection is hurting his mate, so while he fights their connection, Wick gets help from a source very close to Justice to help him win his beloved’s heart. Wick is a force all on his own, but when he’s blessed with a special gift from the Mother herself, not even Justice’s powerful wolf can prevent the prophesy from being fulfilled.

This story DOES NOT contain/mention MPREG. No multiple pairings. It does not end on a cliffhanger and has an HEA.

Warning: This book is MM paranormal: If you DO NOT like hot, alpha men shifting into large wolves, or vampires feeding from their mates, this may not be your read.

I don't know how to give a review on this without actually spoiling any of the story, so sorry if its a little vague!

I think there's some interesting things that happen that should unfold as a surprise as you're reading, and Wick's secret is a doozy. I loved the basis of this story, an Alpha Zenith (Alpha of all packs and Alphas) and a Vampire King. A prophecy to save their kind from fighting against each other and those that want to do them harm.

I know this story is just the set-up for more to come (5 to be exact) but I wish I would have seen more action. I would have loved to have been in that building rescuing weres and vamps, instead the focus was more on the bond between The Alpha Zenith and The King. Which is fine and all, but to me It seemed the main issue of the Red Dome clan and what they were covering up should have been more important, but was put on the backburner. I would have also loved getting more information on wick’s mother. it is a little unclear as to who she is, is she the “great mother” or someone we haven’t talked about?

The King, Wick, also seemed to have flipped personalities. He came in all high powered and regal, then became kind of silly (which I loved) and whiny (which I didn't love). He redeems himself by the end, of course, with his challenge against the enemy. He holds his own and becomes the same graceful and regal man that entered the story.

The ending, to me, seemed kind of rushed. All of a sudden, it seemed half the guard was about to be mated. Henry and Taleb were adorable (I’m pretty sure they get a story and I can’t wait for that). Alek though, already claiming his mate, and kind of brutally might I add. When I think of true-mates I think of a more soul-deep bond and it's all very romanticized. What happened with Alek and Bell was neither, even Justice was afraid of what it would lead to between the 2 species. Hopefully in the next book Alek and Bell will have slowed down. Maybe we will also get to be in the fray of the enemy take-down? I am excited to see where this will all go. I am very, very curious about Bell!

All in all, I think this is a great premise to a series. I love the brother-hood of the pack and the accepting the vampires into the fold. I think Wick is beautiful! He and Justice will be something to behold. I’m also very curious if there will be an uprising and how deep the enemy goes.

Mate, family, pack, home… can Quinn and Kellan have it all?

Quinn grew up feeling out of place in the small town he calls home. Yearning for something he can’t name, he’s always felt different but never known why.

Kellan is part of a nomadic shifter pack. When they set up camp in the woods near Quinn’s town, the humans are unwelcoming and suspicious of the newcomers. The moment Kellan catches sight—and scent—of Quinn, he knows Quinn is special. But for the first time in his life, Kellan can’t trust his instincts. Quinn is human, and Kellan is a wolf shifter, so how can they ever be mates?

Their bond is instant and exhilarating. It breaks Quinn’s heart to know their relationship can only be temporary. Love isn’t enough when pack law forbids shifters to mate with humans. Tension explodes between pack and humans, and when Quinn discovers a shocking truth about himself that changes everything, he fears he’ll have to choose between the only life he’s ever known and the man he loves.

REVIEWED BY:

What a great shifter story. The story itself was unique and it flowed really well. It was sweet with some drama, but Jay didn't really beat around the bush and over articulate things.

Quinn, having never met his parents, was raised by his mother's sister, Aunt Ruth.
In a time when shifter and human alliance were very, very rocky, his aunt had to make some choices for them.

Quinn never really questioned about his parents and their history, he seemed to have just settled into day to day life with his aunt and his best friend Tash. He has always had a curiosity about shifters and would study them in books and films. So when he hears a pack has come to town, he decides he wants to take a peek.

Kellan is part of a nomadic shifter pack, so when they hit town, it also means they need to hit up the city for some work. As Kellan enters the store he catches the scent of someone familiar, a certain peeping Tom.
Only something is off with this humans scent and he's not sure what it is.

This is what kept me reading (well mostly) was the mystery of why Quinn's scent was different than just a normal human. I wanted, no needed, to know what his aunt t was hiding. Of course I had suspicions, but I didn't know if it was a kind of malicious intent or not, though that didn't seem to fit her personality. This is the part of the story that made this shifter book differ from others. Along with the different kind of mating between them. I kind of really liked the fact that they couldn't speak to each other in their heads, and went of smells and intuition.

Quinn is very passionate about shifter "equality" amongst humans, and it's kind of adorable when he gets a little riled up with the snooty, bad talking townfolk. I also thought it was a great reference to some injustices that happen in daily life.

When tragedy strikes with one of the humans own and the wolves step in (even though they didn't have to after being treated the way they did) it really brings this nomadic pack and the small minded townsfolk together. Jay just really rounded up the ending nicely, giving us our HEA for these heroes.

4.25 sweet stars

Virtual Book Tour & Giveaway ~ Covet by Yolande Kleinn

Hi everybody! I'm Yolande Kleinn, and I'm thrilled to welcome you to the Covet blog tour. I'm giddy to be here myself, and I hope you're looking forward to my kinky contemporary M/M/M love story. I had a terrific time writing this book—getting to know Jack and Colin and Peter—and I can't wait for you to meet them too. Follow along for the chance to win a $30 Riptide Publishing gift card!

About Covet

Jack Mason—graphic designer and unrepentant player—has never been interested in monogamy. He certainly isn’t looking for romance when he meets Professor Colin Sloan.
Newly single and not looking for anything serious, Colin is intrigued by Jack’s offer of a physical affair with no strings attached. Becoming friends wasn’t part of the plan, but as accidents go, this one’s pretty great.

Peter Mason is Jack’s identical twin. In a long-term relationship himself, Peter tells no one that he’s falling for his brother’s newest favorite, even as the secret creates tension with his girlfriend.

When Peter’s relationship falls apart, he seduces Colin, fully expecting Jack to forgive his transgression. But Jack is keeping secrets too—he hasn't told even Colin that he’s fallen in love. Suddenly the twins are feuding, and Colin is caught in the middle, blindsided by the revelation that he doesn’t want to choose between them.
Now all three must find a way to share, or they’ll tear each other apart.

Select quotes from Ginn Hale about Lord of the White Hell:

Adventure, romance and happy endings belong to us all.”

“While writing Lord of the White Hell I wanted very much to create characters who represented a greater diversity of race, sexuality and religion than I’d often seen in tales of fantasy and romance. And of course I wanted them to have a rollicking adventure as well!”

Editorial Reviews:

“An intricate world, well-integrated social issues, believable sexual encounters, and an interesting mystery make this dense, languorous tale appealing for any fan of romantic fantasy.” --Publishers Weekly

“Lushly detailed, with believable, fully developed characters, this fantasy with homoerotic overtones is reminiscent of Mercedes Lackey's Vanyel novels and should appeal to a similar readership.”--Library Journal

“There is something almost intoxicating about Ginn Hale's work. Her characters are unforgettable and her plots mesmerizing. The imagery in Lord of the White Hell blazes from the page with ferocious brightness.”--Josh Lanyon

Excerpt

Maybe now that they were on good terms he could convince Javier to let him have a look at that book. It was worth a try, anyway.
“Does Calixto’s diary mention Yassin Lif-Harun? He was one of the defenders of the academy,” he said casually.

Javier studied Kiram over the top of the book.

“I believe I already explained the fee I would require for access to my deranged ancestor’s autobiography.”

“Don’t be an ass,” Kiram replied. “I need the information for my history essay.”

Javier leaned back in his chair and stretched out his long legs.

“I imagine that only increases the value, then.”

“I’m not selling you my soul.”

“What about your body?”

Kiram felt his entire face flush red, not because he was shocked by Javier’s suggestion, but in shame at his own desire to accept. This was just the way Javier played with the people around him. Kiram knew that, but Javier’s slow, suggestive smile still affected him.

Kiram lowered his face, pretending to look over his notes one more time.
“I don’t even know if you have anything of value in the book,” Kiram said primly.

“My God, Kiram.” Javier laughed. “I never expect you to take me up on these things. You seem so demure most of the time.”

“I’m not demure. I just have some self-restraint.”

“But not, it seems, when it comes to the pursuit of knowledge. You’re willing to sell your body for a look at a book.” Javier held the diary up as if it were a shimmering enticement.

“No, I refuse to sell my body.” Kiram was a little amazed to realize that he’d grown used to these kinds of exchanges with Javier. “Unless you can guarantee that your book has any information that would be of use to me.”

Javier bounded up from his chair and sat down on the edge of Kiram’s bed, leaning in close. “If that’s the case, then I propose a little demonstration of quality on both our parts.”

Great start of a series, but yes, it ends on a cliffhanger. I need book 2 like I need my next breath!!

Kiram is accepted into a prestigious School of another "culture". He's an outsider here, so he must make his way through strange beliefs and encounters. He doesn't trust anyone because he feels they'll use him and then blame him and he'll be the one to get in trouble. He's roomed with Upperclassmen Javier, who is a mystery, even to his own people. Kari doesn't believe the hype of this "White Hell" but he does believe it is something else entirely.

As they slowly make their way into a friendship, he is also fighting is desires towards this strangely charming man. While making friendships with some unlikely heroes.

Kiri even tried to fight his own family so that he can remain at the school and try and help his friends from what's coming. And build his own machine to try and win the award he was sent there for.

Towards the end, they talk less of the curse and build up the edge between Kiri and Javier. The story doesn't end on a good note and there is still so much more to come. I'm going to dive right into Book 2

You can’t hide the cracks under the spotlight

Dusk. Leader of The Underdogs. Destined for greatness. Lives in the now.

Abe. AKA Lolly. Iridescent. Unicorn.

All Dusk wants out of life is for his band to become world famous. He also wants to have a lot of fun along the way. And to get his rocks off. When he wants something, he goes for it, consequences be damned.

So when he sees a gorgeous pink-haired guy who is the human equivalent of tattooed cotton candy, he can’t help but have a taste. But it’s when Lolly ends up on their tour bus that Dusk knows their meeting was destiny.

Abe is the kind of guy who goes with the flow. He was hitchhiking anyway, so why not spend the week with a hot piece of rocker beefcake, getting smothered by his sexy long hair? And why not play the part of the supportive cutie while he’s at it? It’s not like he’d be sticking around for long anyway.

All plans hit a wall when photos of Abe and Dusk emerge online, suddenly pushing the band into the spotlight. To take advantage of the sudden popularity, the band offers Abe money for staying.

Which means money for being in a fake relationship with Dusk.

Which isn’t even fake.

Or is it?

Excerpt

The sun hit him like a red-hot hammer, and he squinted, rushing through the courtyard and into the shadow of the roof. His mouth was already smiling when he saw the logo of an ice cream manufacturer in the window. Since they’d already stopped, he might as well have something sweet to go with the savory. Or, possibly-maybe get peanut butter ice cream and win at breakfast?

The store greeted him with fresh, cool air that he inhaled with pleasure, delving between the shelves to find his prize. He could already see it from afar, next to a few jams, and coffee, and—who the fuck was that?

Dusk stopped breathing and just watched the dreamy, pink-haired creature move along the aisle, headbanging gently to music he was listening to through his mint-colored headphones. There was a lightness to his step, and Dusk followed the guy as if he were a rabbit leading Dusk to Wonderland.

The guy’s hair was styled into two thick, messy boxer braids tied with glittery bands. A pair of rollerblades swung from the guy’s large backpack. With each hypnotizing movement of slim hips clad in well-fitting denim shorts that ended just above the knees, Dusk was beckoned closer to the creature who was so at odds with the coarse surroundings, he must had stepped out of a fairytale and gotten lost in the New Mexican desert. His bare calves were nicely toned and dusted with blond hair, twitching slightly as the angel of a guy danced his way through the aisles.

He only stopped once he approached a newspaper stand and pulled out a music magazine. Leaning slightly against the wall, he finally allowed Dusk a good look on the profile of his boyish yet angular face. Working his way through the pages, he seemed completely immersed in his own little world.

One arm, tattooed in pastel-colored shapes that Dusk could not discern from afar, rose, and the guy pulled on a little white stick that peeked out of his mouth, revealing a shocking pink lollipop that he must have been sucking on all along.

Dusk licked his lips, wishing he could be that lollipop. He checked himself out in a mirror next to a stand with hats, just to make sure he didn’t have anything stuck to his face, and he moved closer to the pastel-hued poisonous butterfly. The guy was cute, colorful, but there was an edge to his look. His neck was inked, and his septum pierced. Oh, how Dusk craved to put his hand against the guy’s Adam’s apple.

He couldn’t recall the last time he was rendered speechless, since he was anything but shy. This guy though, casually sucking on a pink lollipop at this gas station in the middle of nowhere, was making Dusk’s throat dry, his palms sweat, and his dick beg for action.

Lolly blinked and gave a short laugh, staring at something in the magazine. Still gently moving his body to the music coming from his headphones, he rhythmically tapped the lollipop against his lips, only to greedily suck it back in. Every time he smiled, a little black star under his eye moved. At first Dusk had assumed it was painted-on, but as he stared more intently, he recognized it as a tattoo.

That was it. Dusk needed to get himself a piece of that.

He took a few steps closer and reached for a magazine off a shelf above Lolly’s head to get an opportunity to stretch in front of the guy, and when their eyes met, he smiled.

Lolly’s eyes were big and so blue they fit right in with his image. He leaned his head back to look at Dusk more comfortably and pushed the headphones to rest around his neck, revealing flesh plugs of the same minty color. Score.

He moved the lollipop in his mouth with his tongue so that the stick was at the side and wouldn’t prevent him from speaking. “What’s up?”

“What’s the flavor?” Dusk pointed to Lolly’s mouth. He bet it now tasted of wet hot sin.

Lolly pulled on the lollipop so that it slid halfway out of his mouth, only to suck it back in, loudly and without shame. “What flavor do you like?”

“I like fruity. And my manager only allows me one sweet thing a day, so I gotta choose wisely.” It was utter bullshit, but did it matter when their gazes met so intensely neither of them blinked? “Can I try yours to see if I wanna buy it?”

Lolly pulled on the stick, so tantalizingly slow, teasing Dusk with his blue eyes and long lashes, with his perfect tanned skin, with his toned arms that were tattooed into various landmarks and animals. Lolly was not only hot. He wasdesire.

“What do I get in return?”

Sink or swim. Dusk would either get a kick in the nuts or a laugh. He leaned down to whisper into Lolly’s ear. Worst case scenario, he could play it down into a joke and continue from there. “You give me something sweet, I give you something salty.”

Dusk’s skin tingled where they almost touched, and he closed his eyes when the soft, frizzy hair brushed against his cheek. Lolly smelled of something sweet, and yet a bit bitter, in a delicious masculine way that made Dusk want to savor him all the more. Cotton candy made of seaweed? No. That made no sense.

Lolly gave a short laugh, and his fingers briefly rubbed Dusk’s chest. “I’m intrigued.”

Dusk pulled back just enough to look into Lolly’s eyes, and the spot on Dusk’s chest where he’d been touched seemed to tingle as if invisible unicorns galloped along his pecs. How far could he push his luck? The guy wasn’t offended by the dirty joke. Sparks of attraction shone between them as if they’d been glitter bombed, and Dusk found it hard to focus on anything but the pretty lips and blue eyes.

“Intrigued enough to follow me outside and risk that I’m a total psycho serial killer?”

Lolly pulled the candy out of his mouth and slowly moved it along the pink line of his tempting lips, leaving behind a sticky sheen. “Maybe you could taste my lollipop in the restrooms?”

“Fuck yes…” Dusk thought it, but then realized he’d also said it out loud. Oh, who cared? His dick was already filling at the thought of all the things Dusk wanted to do with the sweet lips of this heavenly creature. Was the restroom here actually big enough to fuck in? It better be, because one way or another, he would be scoring soon.
